How to Keep Your Woollen Carpets in Top Condition
If you have decided to redo your home décor, then one of the greatest investments would be a woollen carpet. Brintons carpets come in 80% wool and 20% nylon blend and offer long-lasting luxury and style. A little care and attention can keep your priced possession in a good condition for a long time. Here are few tips to maintain your woollen carpets.
Vacuum It Regularly
Vacuuming needs to be done regularly even if they don’t look particularly dirty. It is normal for new wool to shed fibres. Most of the shedding will happen in the first few months. Use a good vacuum with a beater bar to lift dirt and dust, if present. If the carpet has fringed edges, use a handheld vacuum. Choose a sunny day to get the job done.
Use of An Entrance Mat
All floor types get dirty, and some show more soiling than others. Keep an entrance mat at the entrance and sideways where there is a risk of more soiling. These mats are to be kept clean as you wouldn’t want the dirt on these mats to spread over to your carpet. Brintons carpets generally hide the soiling because of its woollen nature. It is a good idea to put leftover spare cuts of your carpet as an entrance mat.
Do Not Rub Your Carpet
Brintons carpets are generally easy to clean. You will have some time to clean up a spill before it soaks into the carpet. Get a good detergent and use a dabbing or blotting action to clean the area. You can use a wet vacuum cleaner for this purpose, but do not over-wet the carpet. It is important not to rub on the stained part as it may cause the pile to burst and will appear slightly fluffy. If it is mud, allow it to dry, as it would be easier to remove. Never walk on a moist carpet as it would damage the pile carpets.
Other Tips
You may use chair pads and furniture coasters to eliminate pressure marks. It is also good to rearrange your furniture occasionally. Use rugs to protect certain parts of the carpet that are exposed to higher traffic. Do not expose your carpets to direct sun. It’s always best to use curtains or blinds.
If you take care of your Brintons carpets, they are sure to last for a long time.
